Location: the hotel was not far from the coast, and the nature. Had twin room with wake-up service available in it. Thanks to the very very nice staff everything was good, including a wide array of nice food.

I recently stayed at Balneario De Sierra Alhamilla in Pechina for a business trip, as recommended by my director. One of the highlights of this hotel is its use of natural thermal waters from the stunning Sierra Alhamilla Mountains. The onsite spa was a true treat, with three treatment rooms offering a variety of therapies including hydrotherapy and reflexology. The services provided, such as deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, facials, and body wraps.

The history of the building and stunning views over the mountains and the thermal spa baths!
It needs serious updating. the staff seem to have lost their energy for the place. it has so much potantial to be an amzing spa hotel but it is tired

We loved the view and location of the hotel. Wonderful surroundings and wildlife nearby and very peaceful.
Some communication problems with staff. Hot water wasn't available for a couple of hours our first day.

We liked the peace and quiet, the view of the mountains and the sea. The hotel is very old-world and interesting. We enjoyed the thermal baths and had a wonderful massage. It is really a 'get-away-from-it-all' place. The house red was the best wine I have ever had, perfect.
I don't like to see birds in cages, and there are quite a few in the courtyard. I found it distressing to see one large bird in a fairly small cage. I was tempted to let it escape! I didn't!

Its location
I stayed there in 2010 and there was a noticable drop in standard regretably. Breakfast was very poor. I was the only booking in the hotel yet my room booking request could not be met, instead I was put into a more expensive room. The toilet took 40 minutes to flush and refill and smelt terrible. The bedroom was tired and lacked some simple hotel freebies, including soap. In my view, money needs spending on the hotel to attract people. It is in danger of becoming a family home as many relatives live in or nearby. Sorry I wont be returning. The hotel speak no english, so if you do stay you need a basic understanding of Spanish is recommended. It took 30 minutes to check out as the internet connection / visa transaction is so low. So check out with cash. Sorry but this hotel needs to try a little harder to stay in existance.

Staying at this Moroccan-style hotel was like stepping into a hidden oasis. The stunning courtyard, adorned with beautiful fountains and fragrant citrus trees in bloom, created a truly mesmerizing atmosphere. The gluten-free culinary offerings were exceptional, but the real highlight was the magical experience of the thermal baths. I would return just for that alone. The staff was friendly and always ready to help, and we also enjoyed the nearby tapas bar, offering delicious and reasonably priced food. Our room was simply wonderful, complete with a heated tiled floor that was an unexpected delight. The view from the hotel, overlooking the city and the sea in the distance, was absolutely breathtaking. The historic architecture of the hotel, along with the attention to detail in its restoration, added to the overall charm. The tranquility, easy parking, and picturesque mountain location provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation. The opportunity to indulge in natural thermal treatments was a definite highlight of our stay. The service provided was both professional and friendly, making our experience even more enjoyable.

The views from the hotel were spectacular and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant served really good local food and the local wine was delicious. I would recommend eating here. The whole experience was very Spanish, not for those liking modern hotels on the coast.

I am a Brit with homes in the UK and also in Spain where I travel around quite a bit. I always avoid the expensive brash hotels closer to the coast. The Hotel Balneario De Sierra Alhamilla is a gem and definitely has the ‘wow factor’. One look at the photos and the description of the hotel should sell it to you. Have a good look around its nooks and crannies and make sure you get to the Moorish hot spring baths in the basement. The rooms are very reasonably sized with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The restaurant serves well cooked evening meals with 3 or 4 choices for starter, main course and dessert. The menu is in Spanish so you may need a dictionary. The continental breakfast buffet offers a wide choice. Some have remarked on the lack of hot water, but that is the Spanish plumbing. It arrives eventually as the heater is a long way back in the system. The hotel is set in Banos which is a remote location 7/8kms from Pechina. Banos has the hotel, two bars, half a dozen houses and a couple of buildings under construction: so don’t expect the high life! The hotel’s charm is its unique character and in its remoteness, but that could be its undoing. I doubt if it provides its owners with a high return, and my advice is to use it or lose it, and that would be a great shame. Outside, try the Bar Sierra Alhamilla across the street. Beer is served in ceramic tankards straight from the freezer which create small ice crystals in the inside that tingle on the tongue: excellent for quenching a thirst.
